PEOPLE’S CHOICE

People’s Choice Awards: Most Trusted SUV/Crossover – Subaru Outback

Jan 20, 2020

Summary
New SUV is an excellent all-rounder

Subaru has always been a bit of an underdog automaker with a dedicated but growing following. With its standard, always-on all-wheel-drive system, the brand has crept up the sales charts and is experiencing popularity like never before.

Canadians have cast their ballots, and the Subaru Outback has been voted as the Most Trusted SUV/Crossover in the 2020 autoTRADER.ca People’s Choice Awards. After tallying thousands of votes from people all over the country, the rugged SUV has been recognized as the one Canadians trust the most. This is a huge feat considering there are other models in this segment that have higher sales volumes and others with more established reputations.

“We build our vehicles for Canadian roads and Canadian conditions,” said SCI chairman, president and CEO Yasushi Enami. “It makes us very proud to win awards from Canadians that distinguish Outback from its many competitors in the market.”

While the Outback used to be a bit of an oddball, the new-generation model released for 2020 has moved it firmly into the mainstream. Subaru has made great strides with interior quality and has loaded its Outback with all the latest safety technology, the automaker no longer relying on its famous AWD system to move vehicles off lots. With the Outback, Subaru knew exactly what to do to keep its fanbase happy while also making big moves to court drivers new to the brand. The Outback is an excellent all-rounder – it drives well, it’s practical, it’s comfortable and roomy for people and their cargo, it’s handsome and understated, and, of course, has an innate sense of adventure baked right in.
