Summary
Toyota has earned its reputation for reliability, efficiency, and value.

Toyota has been voted by Canadians as the Most Trusted Automotive Brand in the 2025 AutoTrader Awards, marking a three-time win for this Japanese automaker.

According to a study commissioned by AutoTrader, 28 per cent of Canadians surveyed say that Toyota (which includes its Lexus luxury brand) is their most trusted automotive brand, nearly double the next highest brand, Honda (which includes Acura) at 15 per cent. Toyota has won this award each year AutoTrader has conducted the study, three years in a row.

Toyota was also very successful in this year’s expert-voted AutoTrader Awards, winning five other trophies that include the Toyota Prius as Best Hybrid, Toyota Prius PHEV as Best Plug-In Hybrid, Toyota Grand Highlander as Best Mid-Size SUV, Toyota Camry as Best Family Sedan, and Toyota Sienna as Best Minivan. The Most Trusted Automotive Brand award is the only one our expert jury does not vote on.

Toyota has been in Canada for 61 years and has sold more than 6.5 million vehicles in this country. Over many decades, Toyota has earned a reputation for producing reliable vehicles that offer Canadians value and practicality. Toyota also runs three manufacturing facilities in Ontario and is the country’s top-producing automotive manufacturer. Toyota builds the RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid, Lexus NX, and Lexus RX locally. More than 11 million Toyota vehicles have been produced in Canada. The facilities often win industry awards for quality and safety, and collectively employ more than 8,500 people.

From budget-oriented compact cars like the steadfast Corolla, to fun sports cars like the GR Supra, rugged and capable SUVs like the 4Runner, hard-working trucks like the Tundra, family-friendly SUVs like the Highlander, and efficient cars like the Prius, the diverse Toyota lineup has something for everyone. This year, the legendary Land Cruiser made a successful return, and the Crown Signia joined the lineup to bolster the brand’s already robust SUV lineup. Toyota has also impressed by being a hybrid pioneer and now offers hybrid powertrain on most of its lineup.

With Toyota being recognized as the Most Trusted Automotive Brand for three years in a row, Canadians have cemented their confidence in the popular automaker.

These are the findings of a study conducted by AutoTrader from November 4 to 6, 2024 among a nationally representative sample of 1,505 Canadian adults (18+) who are members of the online Angus Reid Forum. The survey was conducted in English and French. For comparison purposes only, a probability sample of this size would carry a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points at 95% confidence level.
