autoTRADER.ca Top 10 Most Searched Vehicles in 2015

Few surprises in 2015 Canadian vehicle searches… except for one region.

Ever wonder what other people are looking for on autoTRADER.ca? Looking back at our post for 2014, you'll find a list of bread-and-butter commuters and hardworking pickups. Sensible Canadian sensibilities at play here, clearly. And it's the same story in 2015 – the Overall Top 10 are exactly the same, albeit in a slightly different configuration.

Whereas sales figures provide an insight into demand, these rankings reflect a combination of practical need and aspirational daydreaming – can you imagine a world where, alongside the F-150s and Civics, every other car is a 3 Series, Mustang, Corvette, or 911?

For this year's lists of the year’s most-searched-for vehicles, we’ve combined a few provinces and territories to give a better sense of what’s happening in a particular region. Are you surprised by any of our findings? Let us know in the comments.

Overall

The Honda Civic and Ford F-150 reign supreme again this year. The Honda CR-V moves up two spots to take the Accord’s place.

Alberta

The BMW 3 Series falls behind this year, though we’re guessing it’s due to BMW’s decision to split off the two-door variants into the 4 Series, rather than any decline in interest.

British Columbia

The Ford Mustang leaps up two spots following the debut of the all-new 2015 version.

Manitoba

The Chevrolet Corvette makes its entrance at number seven in Manitoba. Here’s to hoping the potential owners aren’t planning to do the big jump on River Road.

Maritimes

Meanwhile in the Maritimes, the Corvette trades places with the Toyota RAV4, which has the dubious distinction of being the fifth-most-stolen vehicle in that region.

Ontario

Little has changed in the province, with the Wrangler, Accord, 911 and Mazda 3 doing a little shuffle.

Quebec

The Honda CR-V surges up from ninth place to fifth, overtaking the Wrangler. The Civic enjoys a commanding lead here, with almost twice the number of searches than the Mustang.

Saskatchewan

The top three spots are stable in Saskatchewan, with the Silverado edging out the Tacoma for a place in this year’s list.

The Territories

The top three are two trucks and a Jeep, and they’re the only ones that have stayed the same. Fully half of the list is composed of new entrants. Even the Corvette makes an appearance. Rear-wheel drive in snowy conditions? Yes, you can.
