2017 Honda Civic hatchback revealed in patent photos

Mar 16, 2016

Summary
We get our first look at the "everyday" version of the Civic's new hatch variant

A couple of weeks ago, we gave you a look at the Civic hatchback prototype Honda showed at the Geneva auto show. Honda is well-known for its prototype show cars that differ little from the production models that follow, and the Civic hatch is no exception based on the company's patent images, dug up by someone at the CivicX.com forums.

Stripped of the prototype's aggressive styling cues (we surmise we'll see them, including the centre-exit exhaust, on a future Si or Type-R version of this car) the hatch looks a lot tamer, but it wears the sedan's styling cues well. Tame or not, this 10th-generation Civic marks the first sold in North America to wear styling as interesting as that seen on overseas versions in recent years.

Watch for the Civic hatch to bow later this year; hatchbacks will be built at Honda's Swindon, UK factory.
