Audi Recalls A8, S8 Over Flyaway Sunroof Panels

Jun 9, 2016

Summary
Glass panels were improperly bonded to sunroof mechanism

Audi has issued a recall affecting seven examples of its full-size A8 and S8 sedan models to fix sunroof panels that could separate from the roof mechanism. The cars in question were sold as 2008 and 2009 models.

The German manufacturer says the glass panel may not have been properly bonded to the sunroof mechanism's frame and could fly off the vehicle while it is being driven.

Because it's unlikely other drivers would appreciate having to try and dodge a flying hunk of glass while travelling at triple-digit speeds (or, honestly, any speed for that matter), Audi dealers will apply extra adhesive between the glass panel and sunroof frame.
