Jeep Recalls Renegade Over Tow Hitch Failure Fears

Jul 28, 2016

Summary
Hitches could fall off

Jeep has recalled some compact Renegade crossovers sold as 2015 and 2016 models to fix factory-installed trailer hitches that could fall off the vehicle.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), Jeep's parent company, says the optional hitches may not have been properly attached to the vehicle during installation and could consequently fall off. Naturally, that risk is higher when the vehicle is towing a trailer, and it's not hard to imagine how badly things could turn out if whatever you're hauling behind you goes its own way.

FCA says its dealers will inspect the 1,034 hitch-equipped Renegades and install any missing fasteners to the trailer hitch assembly.
