Toyota Recalls Prius for Parking Brake Fault

Oct 17, 2016

Summary
Cables could detach, leaving car to roll away

Toyota has recalled nearly 2,800 examples of its all-new Prius to fix parking brake cables that could detach from the rear brake calipers.

Transport Canada says the fear is that if the driver leaves the car with the ignition on and the transmission in a position other than park (like neutral, for example), the car could roll away.

Toyota is instructing its dealers to install a clip on the end of each cable to prevent them from detaching from the rear brakes. This recall covers certain 2016 and 2017 models.
