Land Rover Builds Collapsible Winter Cabin for Santa

Just in time for the holidays, Land Rover has created a cozy winter cabin that will fold up and fit into the back of a 2017 Discovery Sport. Land Rover "wanted to create a Christmas cabin for Santa, in a truly Land Rover way" and they used 12-time Mount Everest climber Kenton Cool to test it out at North Pole-like temperatures.
The cabin measures 3.5 square meters inside, which makes for sleeping room for two adults. It comes apart and can be stored in the back of the Discovery Sport, with the rear seats folded. Land Rover engineers have used all of the space in the Discovery to help hold all the bits and pieces of the cabin, with every storage compartment filled with bits and bolts. Even the glove box is filled with ornaments.
The Land Rover engineers used a digital model of the cabin in order to help maximize interior space usage. Then they worked with Danish architects Lumo for their help in building the cabin from sustainable materials. The cabin looks surprisingly spacious, and the hard sides should help keep out the worst winter has to throw at it. Glass doors on each end help you enjoy the landscape you've chosen to explore for your campsite.
Creature comforts include tail-gate style seating taken from the SUV, a solar charging panel on the roof, and you can power your kettle from the 12 volt plug in the Discovery.
Land Rover could have built a much larger cabin using one of their larger SUVs, but chose the Discovery because they "wanted to prove just how versatile the baby of the Discovery family truly is," according to vehicle package team leader Helen Ali. The cabin won't be available for sale, but will tour to select Land Rover dealers and events.
