Subaru Teases All-New Crosstrek

Summary
Not as different as we'd hoped

Subaru has released a single teaser image of its all-new 2018 Crosstrek compact crossover, set to be revealed in March at the 2017 Geneva auto show.

The coyly lit photo reveals the new compact's outline, which will disappoint anyone who wanted -- or expected -- the new Crosstrek to differ significantly from the redesigned Impreza hatchback upon which it is based.

Given the unsurprising visual similarity, the second-generation Crosstrek will mostly likely share the new Impreza's updated 2.0L engine, its 152 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque representing a nominal uptick from the outgoing car's 148 hp.

We figure we'll see both five-speed manual and continuously variable automatic transmissions return, with the automatic being the more widely available option. We're not holding our breath for a strong motor, one of the few things we think would make the already likable Crosstrek better.
