Newest McLaren Does 0-200-0 in under 13 Seconds

Feb 22, 2017

Summary
Goes and stops fast. Sideways too!

McLaren isn't ready to show off the styling of the first of their second generation of Super Series cars, but they are ready to tell us how quick it can go. And how quickly it can stop. They've given us a pretty good drift video of the prototype as well.

The Super Series is the midrange of McLaren's road cars, sitting between the lower Sport Series and the aptly named Ultimate Series. That means that this new model is the replacement for the 650S. On their new and bespoke Pirelli P Zero Corsa tire, the new car can accelerate from 0-200 km/h in just 7.8 seconds. It can then stop in just 4.6 seconds more. At 117 metres of braking, that's an impressive 6 metres less than the 650s and just a hair shy of the braking ability of the P1TM.

McLaren says that despite the neck straining acceleration and eye-popping stopping, the new car will be "the most complete supercar across the full range of use." They're saying that it will be just as good at everyday driving as it is at giving mind-blowing performance.

McLaren will give us more photos and more details at the reveal March 7th, but until then, here's some video of their test driver Chris Goodwin doing his best to wear out some Pirellis.
