Chaotic Carwash Crash Causes Mass Confusion

Mar 29, 2017

Summary
Sometimes you just wait for the crash

It might be one of the strangest accidents ever. Trapped in a car wash behind someone who doesn't seem to understand how car washes - or cars for that matter - work. This dashcam video from Henrietta, NY shows a very strange, and extremely frustrating collision.

It starts with a man in a truck entering a wash bay. You can see that there's a white Nissan Altima that is broken down in the other bay. Somehow they get the car restarted, but rather than drive to a garage or pull aside for a tow, the driver decides to finish the wash.

Near the exit of the wash, the driver of the Altima tries to get out. It's not clear how it happens, maybe the driver put it in park - there were no telltale reverse lights, but they won't work if it's stalled - but her car gets stuck at the end of the track. That's when the inevitable happens.

The track doesn't stop, so the camera truck is forced into the Altima a total of five times. The last time is the result of a smash from the SUV behind the camera truck and it finally forces the Altima off the tracks.

The driver of the camera truck gets out, and you can see the frustration on his face. The poster of the video said that the damage to his truck was minimal, but the Altima suffered some bumper damage. As to the SUV that was at the back of the line? They didn't stick around to find out.

It's a strange accident, but it's going to be an even stranger call to the insurance company. This might be one of those times a dashcam pays for itself.
