Niagara Falls Is Getting A Real-Life Mario Kart Track

Niagara Falls, the southern Ontario city best known for its casinos and a really big waterfall will soon boast another attraction in a life-sized, Mario Kart-inspired go-kart track, and holy Hanna does it look cool.

According to Narcity, the track, set to open in the spring of 2018 as Niagara Speedway, will feature the usual twists and turns, plus a multi-storey corkscrew and a number of elevated track sections. The track's design is said to be very similar to that of an existing facility in Branson, MO, a few photos of which you can see here.

The project is being built by a private company called HOCO Limited as part of a revitalization of the Niagara Falls downtown tourist area. It's not the first Mario Kart-inspired karting track, but it will apparently be the largest in North America and accompany a number of other attractions, including a zombie exhibit, a 4D motion theatre and a renovated Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, all of which will occupy a 10-acre parcel of land along Victoria Avenue, one of the city's main drags.

No word on whether the real-world Mario Kart will include banana peels and Koopa shells to chuck at other racers.
