Pricing Announced for All-New 2018 Kia Rio Hatch
Originally making its debut in the Chic confines of the Paris Expo for the 2016 Paris Auto Show, Kia has just released pricing for the new 2018 Kia Rio hatchback, which has just started to arrive at dealerships at a base price of $14,995.
Kia has the likes of the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa Note squarely in its sights for the Rio, whose base price sits directly between the two.
For 2018, the Rio hatch has undergone a complete revision from the ground up. New, more European styling provides a window into a more dynamic handling package, while a longer body and wheelbase allow for more room inside both for occupants and their cargo. In addition to more cargo space, Kia is also offering a split-level trunk floor – as seen in that Versa Note we talked about – to help better organize your wares. The use of more high-strength steel in the body and chassis also contributes to better passenger comfort and safety. Also contributing to added safety is available autonomous emergency braking, a rarity in the subcompact segment.
Of course, this day in age even compact hatches have to come well-equipped to compete. With that in mind, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats and rear view camera have all been made standard, as well as a 5.0-inch display screen.
If that’s not enough, then features like Kia’s proprietary UVO infotainment system as well as Apple CarPlay and Android compatibility are also offered.
The SX trim has been replaced by the EX Sport and EX Tech with Navi trims, which are $950 and $450 more expensive than the equivalent 2017 SX models.
Base model LX pricing remains unchanged at $14,995, with most other trims getting a minor bump.
The latest Rio comes in five flavours, and has already started arriving in Canadian dealerships:
