Tired of trying to find tires for your classic car? Pirelli has just announced it is delivering a new line of tires that add modern tech to classic sizes and models.
The Pirelli Collezione gives owners of classic and vintage cars improved performance and reliability combined with the period look of their original tire models. Fitments include tires for Ferraris, Mercedes 300SL, Lamborghini Miura, VW Beetle, and Porsche 911s.
To design the Collezione range, Pirelli Engineers used the same criteria as was used when the original was designed. That way the tire fits properly, still gives the right feel and has the right characteristics to match the car's original suspension setup.
But with the classic feel comes improved performance. Details like modern high-performance nylon in the carcass. High-tensile steel wire for the bead. And more modern tread compounds that offer more grip, greater water expulsion, and that meet modern environmental standards.
The full range of tires includes the Cinturato CA67, a 1950s tire for the Aston Martin DB5, Ferrari 250GT, and Mercedes 300SL. The Cinturato CN72 is a 1960s tire that was designed for the Ferrari range. It's a low-profile design that fits the DB6, Ferrari Daytona, and more. The CN36 is a late 1960s tire, originally for the Fiat Dino. It's a rally-inspired tire that fits Porsche 911s and the Mercedes 280 range. The CN12 is a low-profile tire for the Miura, Maserati Bora, Jaguar E-Type and others. Pirelli also has the P7 Corsa Classic range, a motorsport tire designed with a modern tread pattern but with a traditional sidewall. It's intended for historic rallying, with better durability for harsher conditions.
