2022 Ford Super Duty Pickup Adds New Infotainment Option with 12-inch Touchscreen

Ford’s Super Duty pickup lineup makes its big-screen debut for 2022 with a new Sync 4 infotainment option that includes a 12-inch display.
The Super Duty’s first update since a 2020 redesign also brings a new sport appearance package for the Lariat trim that cuts back on chrome and makes the existing black appearance package available to XLT trim buyers for the first time.
Sync 4 and its 12-inch display with split-screen function are standard in the Lariat trim and higher. Ford says Sync 4 brings cloud connectivity to the Super Duty, both for the truck itself and mobile devices connected to the system. It also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and boasts a new voice control system that recognizes more conversational commands.
Ford’s new big-screen infotainment option follows the Ram Heavy Duty’s vertical 12-inch Uconnect display introduced in 2019.
If you buy a 2022 Ford Super Duty in XLT trim, you get Sync 3 in an 8-inch touchscreen, while the entry-grade XL gets basic Sync voice control and a 4.2-inch display.
Also new for 2022 is a Lariat sport appearance package that brings body-coloured bumpers, grille, and mirror caps – replacing standard chrome pieces – and adds a chrome exhaust finisher and black running boards.
And starting this fall, XLT buyers will be able to add a black appearance package to their trucks. Previously only available on posher trim levels, this package dresses up the relatively basic XLT with 20-inch black wheels, body-colour bumpers and grille bars, black running boards, and black badges.
Finally, there’s a new Atlas Blue paint option, a Baja interior theme for Lariat trim, and a navy pier/light slate interior for the Limited trim.
As before, engine choices include 6.2L and 7.3L gas V8s, and a 6.7L turbodiesel that cranks out 1,050 lb-ft of torque. Ford claims the F-Series Super Duty still boasts best-in-class towing and payload ratings.
Ford says the 2022 Super Duty will go on sale this summer.
