You’ll Be Paying More for the Redesigned 2023 Honda CR-V

Sep 19, 2022

Summary
Prices are up across the board, with the hybrid-only Touring trim cresting $50,000.

The redesigned 2023 Honda CR-V will carry a price premium over its predecessor when it arrives in showrooms this fall, with the range-topping hybrid version cresting the $50,000 mark.

Unlike its rival Toyota RAV4, which offers a full complement of gas-electric trims to choose from, the CR-V Hybrid that will be sold in Canada for the first time will sit atop this compact crossover’s lineup and command an asking price of $50,840 before tax but including a non-negotiable $1,950 destination charge. It’s powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder gas engine and a pair of electric motors, with fuel economy estimates of 6.0 L/100 km in the city, 6.9 on the highway, and 6.4 combined.

The rest of the lineup is powered by a familiar 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine, starting with the LX that’s available in the choice of front- or all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive version starts at $36,740 before tax, a little more than $2,000 more than the cheapest 2022 CR-V, while four-wheel traction pushes the asking price to $39,540.

The CR-V Sport is the first of the four trims to break the $40,000 mark, with the all-wheel drive-only version ringing in at $43,440 before the government’s share, while the EX-L that also features standard all-wheel drive is priced at $45,340.

Beyond new styling inside and out, the base CR-V boasts standard features a robust advanced safety suite that includes blind-spot monitoring and lane-keep assist, as well as adaptive cruise control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, and a power sunroof. The sport adds larger 18-inch wheels (17s are standard) and a heated steering wheel, while the EX-L gets a nine-inch touchscreen instead of the seven-inch unit in those trims, plus wireless smartphone connectivity and charging, and an eight-speak stereo.

The hybrid-only CR-V Touring, meanwhile, gets all that plus a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and navigation. The speaker count also jumps to 12 in total. It also features standard four-wheel traction.
