Subaru Adds Sharper Stick-Shift RS Trim to 2024 WRX

Subaru Canada is bringing something special to the Canadian market. While the rest of the world gets a WRX TR, we'll see a 2024 Subaru WRX RS with a stiffer suspension, new seats, and the addition of the EyeSight suite of safety and driver assistance technologies to stick-shift models.

The 2024 Subaru WRX RS gets new suspension tuning that Subaru says should deliver less roll and sway, with new dampers tuned for the exclusive 19-inch wheels. The changes are complemented by a newly retuned steering rack that Subaru says will enhance steering feel.

A new Brembo braking system will have big six-pot front calipers and twin-pot calipers for the rear. Bigger pads and cross-drilled rotors should help improve stopping power and give the car more resistance to brake fade.

The driver and front passenger get a pair of new Recaro sport bucket seats. They're more bolstered than the standard seats and have Ultrasuede inserts. The driver gets eight-way power adjustment and both seats should do a better job of keeping the occupants in place.

Subaru didn't change the WRX's engine. The 2.4L turbo-four makes 271 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The RS will be offered only with the six-speed manual transmission.

Notably, the EyeSight safety technology suite is now available with all manual-transmission WRX models. The system includes adaptive cruise, lane-departure warning, pre-collision braking, and more. Before this year it was only offered on CVT-equipped WRX cars, making this a big change.

Subaru didn't have details on the launch date or pricing for the 2024 WRX, but we'll update this article when those are announced.
