2025 Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid Canadian Pricing Announced

Sep 12, 2024  · 3 min read

Summary
The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid is the most powerful non-Type R Civic to date.

For the first time ever, the Honda Civic Hatchback can be bought from the factory with a hybrid powertrain. However, the electrified version isn’t the only one to get excited about, especially if you’re hunting for a deal.

Pricing for the base model 2025 Civic Hatchback has dropped significantly, as compared to 2024. The entry-level Sport trim now starts at $33,416 (all prices include $1,830 destination charge), a decrease of more than $2,600 as compared to the 2024 Civic Hatchback Sport. However, the price cut comes at the cost of around 30 horsepower (hp). That’s because the model now comes with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that makes just 150 hp and 133 lb-ft of torque.

Fortunately, Honda has managed to improve the 2.0L engine’s fuel economy for 2025. Whereas the engine was officially rated at 7.2 L/100 km (combined) in 2024, the automaker estimates that it will now be good for 7.0 L/100 km (combined). The star of the lineup in terms of both fuel economy and power is the Civic Hatchback Hybrid, though.

Rated for 200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque, the 2025 Civic Hybrid is the most powerful non-Type R Civic ever. Not only is it more powerful than the outgoing 1.5L engine (which made 180 hp), it’s also more economical, consuming just 5.0 L/100 km combined, as compare to 7.1 L/100 km combined for the unelectrified powertrain.

The hybrid will come standard on two of the Civic Hatchback’s trim offerings, the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid, and Honda expects it to account for around 60 percent of model's sales. Prices for the former start at $37,205 and at $40,705 for the latter, an increase of around $1,100 over the same trim levels in 2024, despite neither offering hybrid propulsion.

Regardless of which trim level buyers opt for, they will benefit from updated exterior and interior design, and the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety systems. Those who go for the Sport or Sport Hybrid trims will get black 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, and the latter comes standard with a moonroof, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control.

The Sport Touring Hybrid model is the first Civic to feature Google Built-in infotainment, which allows drivers to use apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and more straight from the centrally-mounted nine-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a wireless smartphone charger, are also included.

Finally, buyers will be able to select from two new colour options in 2025: Solar Silver Metallic and Urban Gray Pearl.

The 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback is expected to reach Canadian showrooms at the end of September.
