Summary
Lucid’s second vehicle offers lots of space, range, and power.

American automotive startup, Lucid, recently took the wraps off its second vehicle ever, a three-row all-electric SUV called the Gravity. Now, it’s finally ready to announce Canadian pricing for the model, undercutting the German automakers it’s looking to take on, though it will cost a little bit more than it’s biggest rival, the Tesla Model X.

Pricing for the Lucid Gravity starts at $113,500, $3,500 more than the Model X. However, the sized Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV costs a minimum of $136,000. Unfortunately, specs for this entry-level trim have not been made public at time of writing.

Fortunately, we do know that the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring, which starts at $134,500, will be powered by a 123 kWh battery that is as much as 40 per cent smaller than competitors’ battery packs due to the use of state-of-the-art Panasonic 2170 cells. Lucid estimates that the battery pack will allow the Gravity to go as many as 720 km per charge, consdierably more than the EQS SUV (which tops out at 459 km) and significantly more than the Model X (which can go up to 565 km per charge). In order to go farther, an electric SUV shopper would have to shell out a minimum of $163,233 for a Cadillac Escalade IQ.

Despite packing in a lot of kWh-worth of battery storage, the Panasonic cells are relatively small. That means that the Gravity will offer more than 3,400 L of storage space, roughly 1,400 L more than the EQS SUV and 1,000 L more than the Model X. Again, shoppers will have to look to Cadillac for more storage space, as the Escalade IQ offers a total of 3,717 L including the frunk.

It’s not all about electron-saving efficiency, either (though there is a good amount of that), the Lucid Gravity is also quite brawny. In all, the SUV will offer drivers 828 hp, which will propel it to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds, which is nothing to sniff at.

Lucid plans to open order books for Canadian customers soon, and deliveries are set to begin at the end of 2025.
