Toyota Recalls Over 100,000 Tacoma Trucks
Toyota has issued a recall of certain four-wheel drive 2024-2025 model year Tacomas due to rear brake hose leaks. This can lead to reduced braking capability, increasing the possibility of a collision.
The issue stems from the clearance space between the rear brake hose and the wheel, where dirt can accumulate over time, according to Transport Canada. With dirt lodged against the rear brake hose, friction is created, wearing down the brake hoses, which can eventually cause a brake fluid leak.
Such damage may result in decreased braking efficiency and increased stopping distances, all of which increases the risk of an accident. This recall specifically applies to four-wheel drive Tacomas equipped with a combination of 16-inch brakes and 17-inch rims.
The problem will be remedied by Toyota, which will replace both rear brake hoses with improved, more durable ones. It's estimated that about 5,100 Canadian trucks are affected, with over 100,000 vehicles subject to the recall in North America.
Owners of the impacted vehicles will be contacted by Toyota, and dealerships will fix the issue free of charge. For those whose truck may be affected, additional information can be found on your vehicle on Toyota’s recall checker website.
