Subaru Unveils One of 100 BRZ Murasaki Edition

The extremely purple sports car gets a special colour and tS equipment.

Subaru Canada has unveiled the latest special edition of one of its most special cars: the BRZ. For 2025, buyers who love of fun colours will have the opportunity to buy the BRZ 紫 Murasaki Edition.

Unfortunately, the word Murasaki doesn’t have some impressive, hidden meaning. It is instead the Japanese word for… purple. The name is at least logical, though, as it's inspired by the special exterior paint colour: Galaxy Purple Pearl. The name could be worse, too. Down in the U.S., Subaru will call the car the BRZ Series.Purple — admittedly, that's hardly the worst thing happening there right now.

South of the border, there will be just 500 examples of the car offered, while 100 have been earmarked for the Canadian market. In addition to the special paint colour, the car will also get 10-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels finished in silver, an exterior graphic kit, and a Murasaki Edition badge in front of the shift lever.

The 2025 Subaru BRZ Murasaki Edition is based on the tS trim and gets gold Brembo brakes as well as a flexible V-bar under the hood that was designed by Subaru's tuning division, STI. Otherwise, it comes with the same 228 hp 2.4L four-cylinder boxer engine as the tS and the same Hitachi-Astemo front dampers.

Prices for the 2025 BRZ Murasaki Edition start at $39,295 (before freight and other charges), about $2,800 more than a standard BRZ tS. The purple model is set to go on sale this spring.
