Summary
It’s about to get easier to tell the hybrid and ICE Corolla Cross apart.

Toyota just took the wraps off a selection of mild updates that will help better differentiate the 2026 Corolla Cross hybrid from its internal combustion counterpart.

All versions of the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross benefit from a new grille. For the traditional, internal combustion engine-only version of the crossover (L, LE, and XLE), the new grille is wider and more rugged. For the hybrid models (SE and XSE), the grille is minimized and painted the same colour as the body to help make it look more like an electrified vehicle. Lower down, the Corolla Cross Hybrid’s front bumper has also been updated to better match the overall look.

As ever, the hybrid models are powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine and three electric motors that combine to make 196 hp, and offer estimated combined fuel consumption of just 5.6 L/100 km. The gas versions of the Corolla Cross will be powered by a 2.0L engine that makes 169 hp.

Regardless of which model buyers choose they will get an updated interior with better technology. New for 2026 is an available 10.5-inch infotainment screen (lower trim models still use the eight-inch unit). Behind the steering wheel, buyers will either get a seven-inch or a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The top-of-the-line trims (the hybrid XSE and the ICE-only XLE) will also come with heated rear seats as standard for 2026.

Elsewhere, Toyota is offering two new wheel options for the updated Corolla Cross. The XLE is now offered with 18-inch dark-gray metallic finish wheels with machined accents, while the XSE is offered with 18-inch aluminum alloy glossy black sport wheels. The XLE trim will also be available with a new interior colour option (Portobello).

Finally, a new exterior paint colour is being offered for the little crossover: Cavalry Blue. On the hybrid SE and XSE models, the colour is available against a contrasting black roof.

As ever, all 2026 Corolla Crosses come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes a pre-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane following assistance, automatic high beams, and more.

Toyota says that 2026 Corolla Cross will reach dealer showrooms later this year and that pricing information will be revealed closer to then.
