Summary
GMC updates the Hummer EV to make it faster than ever.

The GMC Hummer EV is set to become quicker and faster-turning than ever, thanks to a selection of updates for the 2026 model year the brand announced today. On top of a pair of new paint colours, the electric vehicle (EV) gains a new King Crab mode and a Carbon Fibre Edition package.

The new package adds carbon fibre inserts in the hood, mirror caps, and skid plates, a black approach shield, black emblems, and 22-inch carbon fibre wheels finished in black. Available for the 3X Pickup and SUV, the Carbon Fibre Edition also gets improved software optimization and propulsion calibration to make it the quickest Hummer EV yet. All 24-module Hummer EV 3X Pickups now come with 1,160 hp.

Tellingly, GMC hasn’t said how much weight the package saves, but in a vehicle this heavy whatever grams are saved by the advanced materials are likely drops in the proverbial bucket of kilograms. However, the Hummer EV Carbon Fibre Edition will be able to rocket to 96 km/h in just 2.8 seconds.

It (and all other 2X and 3X Hummer EVs) will also get a new feature: King Crab mode. The add-on takes advantage of the SUV's rear-wheel steering system, but turns the back wheels faster than ever to improve maneuverability in low-speed situations. GMC argues that King Crab mode will be idea for off-roaders navigating around obstacles or crawling around rocks.

Elsewhere, the automaker is adding Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte to the Hummer EV’s exterior paint colour options. They can be matched to the new Granite Drift or Stealth Eclipse interior colour themes.

The 2026 Hummer EV will also come with a three-year trial of the latest version General Motors’ Super Cruise driver assistance system. New damper tuning improves overall ride quality and the 13.4-inch infotainment can now utilize split-screen technology for better utility.

Unfortunately, GMC isn’t quite ready to share pricing information as this is written, but that information will be available closer to when the 2026 Hummer EV goes on sale, later this year.
