Small cars with big engines will always find an audience and, indeed, the third-generation (commonly referred to as the Fox Body) Mustang combined those attributes with a legendary name. Now, Ford is celebrating that car with a new retro design package for the 2026 Mustang.
With a run that lasted from 1979 to 1993, the Fox Body Mustang is perfectly placed to appeal to the nostalgia of elder millennials who are thinking about getting a sports car. Indeed, the paint colour seen here, Adriatic Blue Metallic, is inspired by the totally rad shade of Teal that was available on the third-gen Mustang. The package can also be finished in Orange Fury Metallic, which returns to the options sheet after being discontinued six years ago. Both colours will be offered as a standalone paint option for 2026 Mustang EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse models.
Next, the package features two unique wheel designs that are finished in retro white. The first are a take on the Mustang’s 19-inch split-five-spoke design. Buyers who also opt for the Performance package get wheels directly inspired by the Fox Body. Both wheels feature colour-matched centre caps that are finished with a Mustang GT wordmark written in a font that was inspired by the one found on Mustangs from 1987 to 1993.

To go with the white wheels, the nostrils on either side of the gloss black hex-pattern grille are finished in white, as are the taillights. Both the white taillights and the Performance pack 19-inch wheels will be available to all Mustang owners through the Ford Performance Parts catalog.
Inside, the perforated leather seats feature black and white elements that are inspired by the plaid inserts seen in Mustangs in the ‘80s. The pattern is available on both the standard seats and the optional Recaro sport seats. Throughout the cabin, City Silver and Adriatic Blue stitching helps add a splash of colour to the car.

Finally, buyers will be able to equip any 2026 Mustang with colourful seatbelts. Ford is offering to finish the safety equipment in International Orange, Prime Blue, or Black with a red stripe.
The FX Package will be available on 2026 Mustang GT Premium models with or without the Performance package. The new package, as well as the seatbelts are available to order as of June 17.
