Triumph Announces Updates To TF 250-X Motocross Model

Summary
For 2026, the bike gets several refinements.

Triumph may be new to the world of motocross, but they already appear to know how it works—as soon as you release an MX bike, you must immediately prepare to introduce a new-and-improved version of the machine. While the world of street motorcycles is content with longer timespans between updates, the world of dirt bikes sees machines overhauled every year or two, and that’s what’s happening with the TF 250-X. Triumph has confirmed a range of updates for the 2026 machine, coming soon.

The list of upgrades starts with a new clutch from the specialists at Exedy. Triumph says the new unit will handle torque better than the old version, and will be tougher when it’s under hard usage (which is to be expected on a motocross track). Engagement is also supposed to feel more direct.

The exhaust and intake are also new for 2026. The TF 250-X has an updated airbox next year, and Triumph also gave the machine a new silencer. The muffler meets AMA and FIM noise standards for racing, and may also change the distinctive exhaust note that the new Triumph dirt bikes have been known for. The engine’s power mapping has been reconfigured to match the new intake and exhaust systems; this is supposed to allow for better acceleration from the starting line and out of racetrack corners, the manufacturer says.

Triumph also gave the suspension a re-tune for next season’s bike. They say it has better mid-stroke control now, with improved stability in corners and better chassis balance. The brand gives no explanation as to what, exactly, was changed to accomplish this update, though.

Other small improvements include an update to the oil sight glass, making it easier to get an accurate reading, and a revised battery tray to simplify servicing. The graphics are updated for 2026 as well, with in-mold decals in Triumph Racing Yellow. Not major improvements, but the kind of thing that a smart manufacturer includes to ensure their bike is continuously getting better and better.

Triumph did not give an arrival date for the new machine in our market, although other countries will be receiving the bikes this summer. Triumph also listed no price for the updated motocross racer.
