Acura Revives the RSX Name After 20-Year Hiatus

Summary
The new RSX will now be a fully electric luxury SUV.

A reincarnated Acura RSX prototype just debuted at Monterey Car Week, marking the return of the nameplate after 20 years of absence. The new Acura RSX will now be a fully electric SUV with sporting credentials and will be the first Acura model to ride on Honda's new global electric vehicle (EV) platform, the first EV platform Honda developed in-house.

The new model is expected to go on sale in the second half of 2026 and will be produced in Honda’s Ohio manufacturing plant, made alongside the gasoline-powered Integra. Expect a production version to debut in the first half of next year.

The RSX will follow the sporting roots of its namesake predecessor and will feature dual motor all-wheel drive, double wishbone suspension, and Brembo brakes, all of which are going to be standard.

The RSX will also come with a new Honda operating system called ASIMO OS, which Acura says will learn driver preferences and deliver a personalized driver experience. This system will manage functions such as advanced driver systems and in-car infotainment.

The RSX prototype takes a lot of styling cues from the Acura Performance EV Concept, which was shown off in 2024. It closely follows its wide stance design, fastback roofline, wide wheel arches, and 21-inch wheels designed to give the RSX an aggressive performance look. Acura’s concept vehicles typically heavily inform the production models, but expect a more toned-down version when it arrives at dealerships.

Like other EVs, the RSX has adopted a wide wheelbase design, pushing the wheels to the edges of the vehicle, and leaving minimal overhang to maximize interior space. The RSX will also receive a full-length rear lightbar, which Acura says is an homage to the original NSX.

Much like other EVs, the new RSX will have the ability to act as an electric generator able to power household devices and can even act as a home backup generator in emergencies.

No other specs or powertrain information was revealed yet, but expect more details when the production version debuts next year.
