The future of performance looks frighteningly cool at the world’s fanciest automotive event.

Monterey Car Week in California is an annual event that’s home to some pretty special exotic, vintage, and rare performance cars. The vehicles on display can easily be worth millions of dollars, and the week is full of events like races, rallies, competitions, car shows, and auctions catered to the most elite automotive enthusiasts. The event is the perfect opportunity for high-end automakers to unveil their latest supercars and exclusive new projects. There is no event more fitting to showcase high-end opulence, limited production run vehicles, or crazy concept cars like Monterey Car Week. Here’s a roundup of the coolest supercars and concept cars to debut at this year’s event.

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale

Alfa Romeo unveiled a new limited-production retro-inspired supercar called the 33 Stradale, inspired by the 1967 model with the same name. The new 33 Stradale will be based on the Maserati MC20, which features a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 making 630 hp and is capable of hitting 100 km/h in less than three seconds. The total production run will be limited to, unsurprisingly, 33 units.

Bugatti Brouillard

The Brouillard is Bugatti’s latest bespoke masterpiece and comes from its exclusive Solitaire program. Despite the Chiron platform being discontinued, Bugatti has brought back the iconic W16 engine for this hypercar, which makes an insane 1,600 hp. The Brouillard pays homage to the brand’s founder, Ettore Bugatti, and his love for horses, with Brouillard being the name of his favourite horse. The Brouillard features a grass green exterior and interior, with the latter being decorated with upholstered horse imagery.

Lamborghini Fenomeno

The Fenomeno is the latest in the line of limited-production Lamborghini hypercars, following the lineage of cars like the Reventon and Centenario. The Fenomeno celebrates 20 years of Centro Stile, a design philosophy Lamborghini adopted in the 2000s. This is the first limited-run hypercar based on the new Reveulto platform. It produces 1,080 hp from the same hybrid V12 powertrain as the Reveulto, and is capable of hitting 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds. Production of the Fenomeno will be extremely limited, with just 29 units planned for production.

Gordon Murray Automobiles Le Mans GTR and S1 LM

Gordon Murray Automobiles (GMA) has shown off a true spiritual successor to the McLaren F1 GTR, named the S1 LM. The S1’s design draws very close inspiration from the 1995 McLaren, with the rear end of the S1 being a near copy of the original car. This also marks the start of bespoke builds for GMA, with the S1 LM being its first customer-commissioned car. GMA also showed off the LeMans GTR, taking the platform of the GMA T50 and re-engineering it for track use.

Lexus Sport Concept

Lexus showcased a design concept for a potential future performance car. Lexus was pretty quiet on details about this concept, allowing the dramatic design to be front and centre. The concept showed off a beautiful, classic, long hood coupe design that could preview a possible LC replacement.

Bentley EXP 15

The Bentley EXP 15 was designed to preview future Bentley cars by taking a look at the past. The EXP 15 is a large, opulent grand tourer that takes inspiration from the 1930 Bentley “Blue Train,” which had a custom coach-built body. The EXP 15 hints at what Bentley’s first fully electric car could look like, which will feature classic Bentley design features like a large grille and long hood. Meanwhile, the interior features a sliding three-seat configuration to create a balance between storage and passenger comfort.

Shelby Mustang Super Snake R

Ford showcased something a little closer to reality with the Shelby Super Snake Mustang, continuing the tradition of highly modified Shelby Mustangs. The Super Snake R takes the already fast Mustang Dark Horse and pumps up its performance to extreme levels. Its supercharged V8 turns out a very impressive power figure of 830 hp, making it even more powerful than Ford’s Mustang GTD.

Corvette CX and CXR Concepts

Chevrolet showcased the Corvette CX and CXR concepts designed for the Gran Turismo video game racing franchise. The CX concept is fully electric and has 2,000 hp going to all four wheels. Meanwhile, the exterior features a canopy-style roof, allowing the driver to enter the cockpit of the CX like a fighter jet. Building on this design, the CXR concept uses a hybrid system that utilizes a 15,000-rpm 2.0L twin-turbo V8, which alone makes 900 hp. Paired with the electrified drivetrain, it makes a combined 2,000 hp.

Cadillac Elevated Velocity

The Elevated Velocity concept is designed to showcase the future direction of electrified Cadillac V products. The Elevated Velocity combines high-speed autonomous off-roading with luxury, taking inspiration from the game of desert polo. The exterior features full body-length gullwing doors, massive wheels, and a red monochrome interior. This design cue is a nod to the Elevated Velocity incorporating red light therapy, which is intended to help the driver relax while the car is in autonomous driving mode.
