First unveiled in 2013, the third-generation Lexus IS has had impressive staying power. Now, after 12 years on the market, the model is getting its third aesthetic refresh and some improved technology to help keep it on the road for a few more years.
Coming in early 2026, the facelifted IS is still recognizable from the side, but gets a new front and rear end that align with Lexus’ latest design language. According to the automaker, the new look helps accentuate the car’s low centre of gravity and wide stance. The result is fine, if reminiscent of the Toyota Camry’s recent update, which pasted a futuristic front end on an aging body.
What may disappoint some fans of the model is that it will only be offered with a V6 for 2026. Gone is the mighty V8 that powered the IS 500, the 3.5L engine is all that remains. As ever, it will send 311 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, that will be the only powertrain offered, meaning that the IS 300 is gone, too, leaving only the IS 350.
Lexus says it has at least tweaked the 2026 IS 350 to improve handling feel. Specifically, the brand has optimized the electric power steering system and the suspension to deliver linear steering feel across more driving conditions.

Perhaps the biggest change, at least when it comes to objective metrics, is the IS 350’s new tech suite. Both the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen have grown, and they now both measure 12.3 inches across. Lexus’ much-loathed track pad has also gone the way of the V8.
The car now also gains a wireless charger for smartphones, as well as USB-C ports for the rear seat occupants. In addition, Lexus has developed a new “forged bamboo” material that will be used as ornamentation throughout the cabin and works with the new interior colourway, Radiant Red, to create sporty cabin in F Sport models.
Indeed, the IS 350 will be available with one of three equipment packages: F Sport Design, F Sport 2, and F Sport 3. The first two come equipped with newly designed 19-inch aluminum wheels, while the F Sport 3 package features 19-inch forged wheels from BBS. The top-of-the-line package also benefits from a 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, while the others get a 10-speaker system.
All models come equipped with a generous suite of safety systems and can be ordered in one of seven exterior paint colours: Ultra White, Iridium, Couldburst Gray, Caviar, Infrared, Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0, and new for 2026, Wind, a light shade of gray with metallic highlights.
The 2026 Lexus IS 350 will go on sale early next year.
