For the first time, the GT/CS trim package is being offered on the electric Mustang.

For the first time ever, the legendary California Special trim package will be offered on Ford’s electric Mustang. The 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT California Special (GT/CS) will be ready to order this week, and celebrates the beauty of the west coast.

The automaker’s decision to extend the GT/CS package to the electric vehicle (EV) comes amid a wider reimagining of the trim package, as first seen on the V8-powered Mustang GT.

First introduced in 1968 as a nod to Ford’s California dealers, who were some of the Mustang’s biggest sellers, the trim package has long been defined by its red and black colour combination. For the car’s seventh-generation, Ford’s designers wanted to redefine the package, and decided to celebrate the state’s coastal nature.

“With California and its beautiful coastline, blue is a natural choice,” said Kristen Keenan, a colour and material designer at Ford, in a statement. “We developed a new colour called Rave Blue. It travels from light to dark, just like ocean water, and it's extremely chromatic, going to a blue violet in some cases. It's just a beautiful, dynamic colour.”

Thus, the 2025 Ford Mustang GT California Special was born. With the redevelopment of the design package, Ford decided to extend the colour palette to the all electric Mustang Mach-E. Keenan said that, although the design team wanted the Mustang Mach-E GT California Special to be visually familiar, they didn’t want to copy and paste the V8 version’s design.

The result is a Rave Blue hood stripe that was inspired by California’s coastline, an illuminated Rave Blue pony emblem at the front, and 20-inch carbonized grey wheels with gloss black aero covers.

Inside, the blue theme continues with seats that are upholstered in ActiveX and Miko (a synthetic leather and cloth, respectively) that are coloured Navy Pier blue. They get a silver stripe highlight, and the carpets match the blue and silver theming of the upholstery.

Based on the Mustang Mach-E GT, the package leaves the powertrain stock, meaning drivers will have 480 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque. They will also be able to go as many as 450 km per charge, according to United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates.

Order books for the 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT California Special open on Oct. 22, and Canadian deliveries are set to start in the first quarter of 2026.
