The Cadillac CT4 compact sedan will be discontinued after the 2026 model year. However, there is good news for sedan lovers, as its mid-size counterpart, the CT5, will return for a second generation… eventually.
Both models share the same General Motors Alpha 2 platform and are the only vehicles that currently use it. Reports indicate that production of the sedans will continue until June of 2026, with 2026 likely to be the final model year for both models, as they currently exist.
Cadillac has said, though, that the CT5 name will continue on for a second generation, with production once again taking place at GM’s Lansing plant in Michigan. The automaker previously confirmed that the second-gen CT5 will have an internal combustion engine but no details on the powertrain or when production will commence have been officially announced. However, Automotive News reports that the second-generation CT5 will arrive by 2028.

The decision to cancel the CT4 likely comes due to low volume sales, with only 336 units sold in Canada and 4,066 units in the U.S. in 2025. That amounts to year-over-year decline of 17 per cent in America, and a small increase of 6.3 per cent in Canada.
On the other hand, the CT5 reports decent sales numbers for the luxury sedan segment, with 737 units sold in Canada and 12,168 in the U.S. This is a year-over-year increase of 11 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively.
The Cadillac CT4 was introduced in 2019, and the CT5 in 2020. The discontinuation of the CT4 will leave the CT5 as the only sedan in Cadillac’s lineup, and the only sedan on offer by General Motors for the North American market.
