Summary
The 50 Jahre Edition celebrates the 3 Series’ storied past.

BMW’s lineup is strong, but the model that represents brand the best is without a doubt the 3 Series. Launched in 1975, the compact sedan is now celebrating its 50th anniversary, and the automaker is honouring it with the release of a special, limited edition model: the 2026 M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition.

Canadians will be offered just 100 examples of this celebratory model, which will be festooned with “50 Jahre Edition” badging all over. Additionally, the model will get special 20-inch forged M Performance wheels, and an M exhaust system.

From an aesthetic perspective, the model will be offered with BMW Individual Merino Leather upholstery inside, and six special paint colours outside. Each hue was selected to represent one of the six generation of 3 series that preceded this one. They are: Madeira Red Metallic, Laguna Green Metallic, Avus Blue Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, Deep Green Metallic, and Citrin Black Metallic.

Under the hood, nothing changes for the 2026 M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition. Power still comes form a 3.0L inline-six-cylinder engine, which makes 386 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. That propels the model up to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, and onto a top speed of 250 km/h.

Canadian pricing for the limited edition model has not yet been revealed, but BMW has announced that production, which is taking place in Germany, will begin in November 2025.
