We have good news and bad news. The bad news is we have to say goodbye to another small sports car. The good news, though, is that BMW has decided to celebrate the life of the Z4 with a special Final Edition model.
Appropriately somber, the Z4 Final Edition is painted Frozen Black metallic and gets contrasting high gloss black trim pieces on the mirror caps, the kidney grille, the lower air intake, the air breathers, and the exhaust finishers.
The funereal theme continues with the soft top, which is black, and the interior which is upholstered in black leather and Alcantara. Pops of colour are added throughout, though. To match the red brake calipers, the interior gets red stitching on the seats, dashboard, and the carpets.
The Z4 Final Edition will also be equipped with staggered Double-Spoke black and silver 800M wheels wrapped in performance tires. At the front, the wheels are 19 inches in diameter, while at the back they’re 20 inches across.
Buyers will also get a solid collection of features, including a Harman Kardon sound system, BMW’s full suite of safety features, tricolour seatbelts, and special “Z4 Final Edition” door sill plates.
In fact, buyers will have just one choice to make when they order their Z4 Final Edition. They will have to choose between the eight-speed automatic transmission or the six-speed manual. Those who opt for the latter will also get some special chassis tuning that better suits the three-pedal transmission.
A limited number of Z4 Final Editions will be produced from February until April 2026 when the model goes out of production. Although there was enough of an appetite for the roadster to convince BMW to extend production beyond its initial closing date, it remains unclear whether the model will soldier on for another generation after this one expires. While Toyota is understood to be working a follow-up to the Supra — which currently shares its chassis with the Z4 — there is no suggestion that the German automaker will follow suit.
Prices for the 2026 BMW Z4 Final Edition are set at $99,900.
