Lightning Strikes Twice: Subaru Releases its Second Special Edition BRZ

Subaru Canada has officially revealed the second special edition version of the second-generation BRZ. Dubbed the 雷 Kaminari Edition, the yellow coupe’s name comes from the Japanese word for “lightning,” and should look like it as its speeds by.
Limited to just 50 units in Canada, the 2026 BRZ 雷 Kaminari Edition is exclusively available in Sunrise Yellow exterior paint and features matching yellow accents and stitching inside. The colour contrasts against black leather and Ultrasuede seats and door panels.
Outside, the two-tone colour scheme continues, as the special edition model is equipped with a gloss black low profile spoiler, as well as black fender vents. Gold Brembo brake calipers can be seen behind matte black 18-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels.
When it comes to performance, the BRZ 雷 Kaminari Edition is based on the tS trim and features an unmodified 2.4L four-cylinder engine that makes 228 hp and is connected to a six-speed manual transmission. It also gets Hitachi-Astemo front dampers and an STI flexible V-bar under the hood to improve performance.
The new special edition model follows in the footsteps (or the tread marks) of the 2025 BRZ Murasaki edition. That model, whose name was inspired by the Japanese word for purple, was also based on the tS trim and featured Galaxy Purple Pearl paint. Production of that model was also limited, albeit to 100 examples in Canada.
All 50 examples of the 2026 BRZ 雷 Kaminari Edition will cost $42,135 (once delivery fees and dealer fees are accounted for).
