The new, third-generation 2026 Mazda CX-5 will offer drivers 4.5 inches (114 mm) more vehicle, and 2.65 extra inches (67 mm) of infotainment screen, in addition to a number of other improvements. But they will come at the cost of an additional $3,400.
That’s how much more the base model CX-5 GX ($36,300 MSRP) will cost in 2026 than the same model did to start 2025. And the price hikes continue through the lineup, as the GS trim ($39,200) costs $2,450 more in 2026 than it did a year ago. The GT package ($42,200), however, will only cost $400 than it did a year ago.
The trim packages should at least be well equipped. The base GX model comes with an eight-speaker sound system, a 10.25-inch driver display, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Google Built-in technology with Gemini AI. It will also get an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat (the passenger only gets six-directions of adjustability), a 40:20:40 splitting rear bench, dual-zone climate controls, heated front seats, keyless entry and more.
The GS model adds a power rear liftgate, leatherette and cloth-trimmed upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a frameless and auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless phone charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver’s seat in the model will be able to adjust in 10 directions and features a memory setting. Outside, the GS features 19-inch alloy wheels, a front wiper de-icer, heated exterior mirrors, and a colour head-up display.
The GT trim gets all of the above plus LED front and rear signature lighting, piano black wheel arches and rocker trim, and a piano black shark fin antenna. Inside, occupants get a Bose sound system, leather trimmed upholstery, ventilated front seats and heated outboard rear seats, USB-C charging ports, and colour-selectable ambient lightning. The model’s safety suite is also upgraded with automatic high beams.
Buyers with a little extra cash can opt for the GT Panoramic Roof Package ($44,200), which adds a power-sliding panoramic moonroof. Building off that, the lineup it topped by the GT Premium Package ($46,700), which increases the size of the infotainment screen from 12.9 inches to 15.6 inches, adds a hands-free power liftgate, paddle shifters, and a driver monitoring system to warn of inattention.
The system supports Cruise and Traffic Support, Mazda’s advanced driver assistance system, which helps with speed control and steering, and can handle driver-initiated highway lane changes at speeds of 70-140 km/h. It also adds emergency braking, as well as front and rear cross traffic alert.
As was the case in 2025, all versions of the 2026 CX-5 will be powered by a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that makes 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. Paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, the model features standard all-wheel drive in Canada.
The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is set to go on sale this spring.
