Summary
Toyota has earned its reputation for reliability, efficiency, and value.

Toyota has been voted by Canadians once again as the Most Trusted Automotive Brand in the 2026 AutoTrader Awards, marking a four-time win for the Japanese automaker.

According to a study commissioned by AutoTrader, 28 per cent of Canadians surveyed say that Toyota (which includes its Lexus luxury brand) is their most trusted automotive brand, a significant lead over the next highest brand, Honda (which includes Acura) at 17 per cent. Toyota has won this award each year AutoTrader has conducted the study, four years in a row.

Toyota was also very successful in this year’s expert-voted AutoTrader Awards, winning an incredible seven other trophies, more than any other automaker. Those other wins include the Toyota RAV4 as Best Overall SUV and Best Compact SUV, the Camry as Best Family Car, the Sienna as Best Minivan, the Prius as Best Hybrid, the Prius PHEV as Best Plug-In Hybrid, and the 4Runner TRD Pro as Best Vehicle for Adventure. The Prius, Prius PHEV, Sienna, and Camry all received repeat wins, while this is the first time the 4Runner has won as Best Vehicle for Adventure. The Most Trusted Automotive Brand award is the only one our expert jury does not vote on, but their votes for the other winning Toyotas speak volumes about the impressive impact the brand has made.

Toyota has been in Canada for 62 years, has sold more than 6.5 million vehicles in this country, and has a national network of 287 dealerships. Over many decades, Toyota has earned a reputation for producing reliable vehicles that offer Canadians value and practicality. Toyota also runs two manufacturing facilities in Ontario and is the country’s top-producing automotive manufacturer. Toyota builds the RAV4, Lexus NX, and Lexus RX locally, including their hybrid counterparts. More than 11 million Toyota vehicles have been produced in Canada. The facilities often win industry awards for quality and safety, and collectively employ more than 8,500 people.

From budget-oriented compact cars like the steadfast Corolla, to fun sports cars like the GR Supra, rugged and capable SUVs like the 4Runner and Land Cruiser, hard-working trucks like the Tundra, family-friendly SUVs like the Highlander, and efficient cars like the Prius, the diverse Toyota lineup has something for everyone. This year, the ever-popular RAV4 was overhauled with a fresh new look and is available only as a hybrid, demonstrating Toyota’s commitment to efficiency. Toyota has also impressed by being a hybrid pioneer and now offers a hybrid powertrain on most of its lineup. The company is the top seller of electrified vehicles in Canada.

With Toyota being recognized as the Most Trusted Automotive Brand for four years in a row, Canadians have cemented their confidence in the popular automaker.

These are the findings of a study/survey conducted by AutoTrader from November 3 to 5, 2025, among a representative sample of 1,500 online Canadians who are members of the Angus Reid Forum. The survey was conducted in English and French. For comparison purposes only, a probability sample of this size would carry a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
