In a pleasing twist, the cost of something has actually decreased. Toyota announced today that the starting price for the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid will be $52,408 (once delivery fees and other non-negotiable add-ons are factored in), down from $54,792 last year.
That’s not just surprising because of the inflating price tags of — well… everything. It’s also surprising because the 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid is all new and features the latest electrified powertrain that delivers 324 net horsepower and Toyota expects it to be able to go up to 80 km per charge on electric power alone.
All 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrids also get nifty new styling, and they’ll be pretty well equipped. The lineup opens with the SE trim, which comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual Bluetooth pairing, a 12.3-inch driver display, a 10.5-inch infotainment screen, and Toyota’s voice assistant.
On the more physical side, it gets a power moon roof, a power tailgate, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Inside, it gets power-adjustable fabric seats that heated in the front.
Unfortunately, the next trim up, the XSE, does not decrease in price for 2026. However, with an estimated price of $60,058, it only costs a few hundred dollars more than the last-generation’s equivalent model.
In addition to everything that’s included with the SE model, the XSE gets 20-inch black alloy wheels, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, and a nine-speaker JBL sound system. Buyers’ backsides will also appreciate the step up, as the seats are not only upholstered in Softex, but they are also ventilated. An auto-dimming rearview mirror with garage door opening capabilities, door sill plates, a rear bumper protector and a wireless dock for smartphone charging will also make buyers’ lives a little easier.
Those want the latest Toyota tech may be tempted by the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid XSE Technology Package. It adds a shift-by-wire transmission, an advanced parking system, improved adaptive cruise control, better warnings about potential accidents, and a head-up display.
Importantly, it also comes with DC fast-charging capability, which will allow drivers to go from 10 to 80 per cent state of charge in just 30 minutes at a Level 3 charging port.
Finally, the lineup is topped by the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid GR Sport. The first RAV4 to be worked on by Gazoo Racing, it gets 20-inch alloy wheels that surround red brake calipers. It also gets paddle shifters, a sport-tuned suspension with performance dampers, GR seats with red stitching, and unique design features like a new front bumper and a rear spoiler. Prices for the sporty model start at $61,158.
