If you think all hybrids and electric vehicles are designed for the pedestrian purpose of helping environmentally-conscious drivers reduce their carbon footprint, it's time for a not-so-sober second thought. Sure, cars like the Toyota Prius, Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt remain headline-worthy in their own way, but the real news is how upscale and boutique car manufacturers are using electricity to pump up performance and create some of the quickest cars (lots of) money can buy.
