Audi Recalls Nearly 10,000 Vehicles for Faulty Airbag Control Units

Audi says 9,700 examples of its A4 sedan, A5 coupe and Q5 crossover models sold in 2008 and 2009 have airbag control modules with faulty power supply components.

In these cars, that component could corrode, causing a lack of electrical conductivity and a nonfunctional airbag control unit. That would trigger an airbag warning light, and Transport Canada says the failure could affect the function of the airbags themselves and other passive safety gear, like seatbelt pretensioners.

Audi dealers will replace airbag control modules in the affected cars.
