Russian Truck Lets Driver Play Secret Tetris

Oct 17, 2017

Summary
Ready trucker one

Easter eggs in cars are nothing new. Take a look at the windshield surround in most Jeeps, for example, and find all sorts of fun logos. But this is something new. Something big. A whole video game is hidden in the dash of a truck as an Easter egg.

The truck is a GAZelle Next. It's a Russian commercial chassis that can have a passenger compartment, bed, or a range of fixtures on the back. Like a Russian version of the Sprinter. But built into the centre information screen is a uniquely Russian surprise. A tiny version of the best selling video game of all time.

With the right combination of controls, you can play Tetris in the info screen of the Next's dashboard.

So how do you do it? It's no Konami code, but it's still a tough one to enter. Start the truck, turn on the right turn signal for three blinks, flash the high beams twice, press the clutch five times, and then rev the diesel to 3,000 RPM while turning the left trip meter knob counterclockwise. Or at least that's what it's supposed to say in the video.

Maybe this is why there are so many dashcam crashes from Russia? Drivers are busy playing video games while they drive. How about a driving game for the next new model?
