Caterham Goes Loopy To Celebrate 60 Years of Seven

Nov 10, 2017

Summary
It's time to do the donuts

Caterham cars is marking 60 years of the classic Seven by heading to the bakery. Those 60 years of Seven is marked by 60 seconds of donuts.

It's enough to make almost any driver dizzy, but Caterham called on six-time Olympic gold medalist Sir Chris Hoy. Sir Hoy was an Olympic cyclist before turning his hand to motorsport, competing in the European Le Mans Series.

The ultra-light, ultra-minimal Seven was launched by Lotus in 1957. Caterham purchased the rights to the design in 1974 and has been building faster and lighter versions ever since.

To complete the donut challenge, Caterham put Hoy in a 620R. That model uses a supercharged 2.0L four sourced from Ford that makes 310 hp and 219 lb-ft of torque. In a car that weighs just 572 kg. That's about 7,062 Boston Cream donuts.

Hoy managed more than a baker's dozen during the minute, running rings around the existing record. Take a look at the video and see just how many donuts Hoy managed. Now we're off to the bakery. And the tire store.
