2019 Volvo V60 Gets Public Reveal In Geneva

Volvo has given the public its first up-close look at the all-new V60 compact station wagon at the Geneva auto show, following a web-only reveal of the 2019 model in late February.

The 2019 Volvo V60 is the latest model to move onto the brand's SPA (scalable product architecture) platform, which already underpins the XC60 compact crossover and larger S90/V90 and XC90 models.

Previously redesigned in 2015, the new V60 adopts styling cues from its siblings, including Thor's hammer-inspired daytime running lights and tall taillights. The new wagon will also be powered by a 2.0L engine used across the rest of the brand's lineup. It's to be turbocharged to 250 hp in the T5 and turbo- and supercharged for 316 hp in the T6.

Volvo says the T5 will be FWD and the T6 an all-wheel driver.

There was no mention of a plug-in hybrid T8 version (yet), which means the V60 will be one of the last Volvo vehicles without an electric motor in its drivetrain. 

Notably, the V60 will also be offered through the Care by Volvo subscription service already announced for the XC40 crossover, which will let customers drive the car for a flat monthly fee that covers all aspects of ownership, including insurance and maintenance.

Volvo has yet to say when the V60 will arrive in Canada or what its Canadian pricing will be.
