Refreshed Lexus RC Coupe Set For October Debut

Summary
Not Radically Coupier

Lexus today revealed initial details of the refreshed RC coupe that will make its global debut at the Paris auto show in October.

Toyota's upscale brand calls this a "new version" of its entry-level two-door, but this is a mid-cycle refresh exercise for the 2019 model, rather than a full redesign.

The effort includes a new front bumper that introduces some sharper angles; redone headlight housings that incorporate the LED daytime running lights, which used to be a standalone element below the headlight; and F Sport models get a mesh grille shared with other models bearing the same trim designation. Also new is the option of triple LED headlights.

Inside, the centre stack gets a new treatment Lexus calls "dark grey streamline," and F Sport trims will add more of the same ornamentation.

Lexus has apparently left well enough alone in the RC's drivetrain (save for vague references to "improvements to engine response and steering feel"), but has tweaked the car's aerodynamics to improve high-speed stability with a new duct in the rear bumper and a tiny fin at the leading edge of the front window trim.

The automaker also promises "extremely supple ride quality and razor-sharp handling" thanks to stiffer suspension bushings, upgraded shock absorbers and new 19-inch wheels and tires.
