Canadian shoppers eager to feel the power and performance of Mercedes’ latest V8 grand tourer, the AMG GT 2 Door Coupe, will have to be prepared to spend at least $173,002 (including fees and additional charges) to buy the car.
Now in its second generation, the model is being offered in two trim levels: the entry-level AMG GT 55 4MATIC+ Coupe, whose twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine makes 469 horsepower, and the even more powerful AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ Coupe, which uses the same powertrain, though it has been tuned to make 577 hp.
The more powerful model rings in at $220,919 (including fees and additional charges). On top of the extra power, this model also comes with the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which adds an electronic limited-slip differential, active engine mounts, and a Drift mode.
For drivers who are serious about track driving, the AMG Track Pace function comes as standard and provides drivers with detailed analysis of accelerator and brake positioning, G-force data, and lap times.
That will be handy since the 2024 AMG GT is awfully quick. The entry-level 55 model can accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, while the higher-power 63 trim can reach highway speeds in a claimed 3.2 seconds.
Regardless of which trim level you opt for, Mercedes will provide buyers with some pretty good standard safety tech, like active brake assist, active parking assistance, blind spot monitoring, and more. The AMG GT also comes standard with a heated steering wheel, massaging front seats, a Burmester surround sound system, augmented reality for navigation, and yellow brake callipers.
In terms of style, the AMG GT is offered with a choice of nine interior upholstery options, all of which feature Nappa leather and two of which combine it with microfiber for a sporty feel. Outside, buyers will be able to select from 10 optional paint colours.
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is now arriving at dealerships nationwide.
