5 Supercar Fails That Will Make You Cringe
Money can buy some pretty incredible supercars, but it can’t buy brains or luck.
Thanks to the ubiquitous presence of cameras and smartphones, it’s become much easier to capture moments when supercars showcase incredible feats of engineering but also when they fail miserably, causing everyone watching to cringe as they watch money go up in flames.
Here are five recent supercar fails you absolutely need to see.
The Berserk McLaren
This incident captured in May 2024 is a perfect example of what not to do on public roads with pedestrians and other drivers around. YouTuber Edmond "Mondi" Barseghian, who went viral for buying an exclusive one-of-one McLaren Senna in early 2023, performed donuts with the same car in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles, Calif. He lost control in an instant and crashed the US$1.3 million car right into the walls of a Lexus dealership, leading to some hefty damage.
Sting of the Viper
Vipers are notorious for being one of the trickiest cars to handle, a fact this particular driver learned the hard way. Being egged on by the cameraman, the driver pulls out from a parking spot aggressively to showcase the sonorous soundtrack of the Viper’s V10 engine. But it all goes downhill pretty quickly, as he loses control and slams right into a parked SUV.
A Torque Affair
The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed introduces the latest and greatest supercars to the world. This year, the incredible 2,000-hp, one-off Lotus Evija X hypercar made an appearance. Unfortunately, at the start of the hill climb when the driver punched the throttle, the Evija X violently spun its wheels with 1,257 lb-ft of torque producing a large cloud of tire smoke before slamming into a barrel of hay nose first.
Coming Home Gone Wrong
Driving back to your house in a Porsche Taycan must be a great feeling. Sadly for this driver, that joy quickly turned to despair as he slowly climbed up his driveway before abruptly punching the throttle, causing it to crash into the SUV parked nearby, fall off a steep ledge, and land on top of the parked vehicle below. Ouch.
Bumper Delete - The Flood Way
The driver of this Lamborghini Huracan thought it was a great idea to drive a low-riding supercar through a flooded onramp. Instead of taking it slow or stopping the car to avoid driving through the flood, the individual accelerated in a bid to clear the water-logged road. The water ends up ripping the rear bumper clean off the Huracan.
