Volvo XC60 Gets the Same Updates as Its Big Brother

Feb 19, 2025  · 2 min read

Summary
The Volvo XC60 will soldier on fa few years longer.

Volvo called an audible last year and, after promising that it would go all-electric, decided that the market wouldn’t support its ambitions. As a result, it decided to give its largest gas-powered SUV, the XC90, a refresh to allow it to stay on the market for a few more years. Now, the Swedish automaker has announced that its top-selling vehicle, the XC60, will get the same treatment.

Those who remember the XC90’s update won’t be surprised by the XC60’s. Outside, the crossover gets a new grille and some new colours: Aurora Silver and Forest Lake, which are brand new, as well as Mulberry Red, which was previously available on other models.

The bigger changes are occurring inside, where the new materials and décor options are available. These include Navy Herringbone Weave and Quilted Nordico upholstery, as well as new cupholders, improved wireless phone charging, and new storage bins.

The marquee change is the new screen, which is larger than before at 11.2 inches and whose pixel density has increased by 21 per cent. That means that the infotainment system has more real estate and crisper visuals. It’s also running on the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm and runs on Google built-in software, making it twice as fast as the outgoing XC60’s system.

“With its cutting-edge user experience, modernised Scandinavian design, improved comfort, and even more luxurious interior, the XC60 sets the standard even higher for mid-size SUVs,” says Erik Severinson, chief product and strategy officer at Volvo Cars.

The improved Volvo XC60 will hit the roads of the world in time for the 2026 model year. No information on powertrain options has yet been shared.
