For 2025, the Volkswagen Tiguan gets a whole host of updates — including more power and an attractive new design — but will only cost $1,600 more than the 2024 model.
The model lineup opens with the Tiguan Trendline, which has an MSRP of $36,495 before taxes and fees. For that, buyers get adaptive LED headlights, 17-inch Shanx wheels and silver anodized roof rails, in addition to that updated design. Five paint finishes will be offered: Pure White, Deep Black Pearl, Pyrite Silver Metallic, Platinum Grey Metallic, and Monterey Blue Pearl.
Inside, the model comes with a new 12.9-inch touchscreen that can be controlled with a rotary dial on the centre console. It's placed next to a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster all of which runs on Volkswagen’s latest infotainment operating system, MIB4. The new system will help run the automaker’s connected services app, Car-Net, and a proprietary voice control system. The standard Tiguan also comes with a six-speaker sound system, cloth seats made with 20 per cent recycled yarn, and a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel.
In terms of safety, the Tiguan Trendline comes with four new airbags (one in the centre, one for the driver’s knee, and two side airbags for the rear seats) as well as automatic high beam assist, blind spot monitoring, an exit warning system, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and emergency assistance.
The first step up in the lineup is the Comfortline trim, which starts at $39,995. It gets 18-inch alloy wheels, tinted glass from the second-row back, and two additional paint colour options: Avocado Green Pearl and Ascot Grey.
Inside, the Tiguan Comfortline comes with perforated leatherette seats and the driver’s throne can be adjusted in eight directions. It also gets a wireless phone charger, extra USB-C ports, and a power tailgate. Buyers can opt for the Grigio, Mistral, or Crystal Grey interior colour options. A panoramic sunroof is the only available option, and adds $1,500 to the price of the SUV.
For those who want a more sinister, athletic look (and don't mind a silly name) the Comfortline R-Line Black Edition trim starts at $43,495. It gets 20-inch black alloy wheels, R-Line bumpers and side sills with black accents, as well as black mirror caps and roof rails. Inside, it comes with a black headliner, a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a standard sunroof. It also gets brushed stainless steel pedals, illuminated exterior door handles and scuff plates, and a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror. The trim is available with all of the above-mentioned colour options, though all come with a black roof and the standard white is replaced by Oryx White Pearl.
Finally, the lineup is topped with the Highline trim, which starts at $47,495. It gets 20-inch machined alloy wheels, silver roof rails, R-line bumpers, as well as an illuminated VW logo and a light line across the grille. It also gets chrome window surrounds, puddle lights, and a heated windshield.
Inside, the infotainment screen expands to 15-inches and the sound system is provided by Harmon Kardon. The seats feature leather upholstery with quilt stitching and a massaging function. Buyers can opt for the Amber Brown interior colourway, which is exclusive to this top trim.
All trim levels are powered by a 2.0L engine that makes 201 hp (17 hp more than the 2024 model), allowing the Tiguan to tow as much as 1,800 lbs (816 kg). All also come with hill descent control and hill hold assist, in case you ever drive too far down a gravel road and turns into a trail.
The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan will start reaching Canadian dealerships this spring.
