The Volkswagen Tiguan gets a new Turbo R-Line top trim for the 2026 model year.
The new Turbo Highline R-Line receives a significant power boost over the previous fastest version of 67 hp, resulting in a total power output of 268 hp from its 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Torque figures also see a significant jump from 207 lb-ft to 258 lb-ft, which gives the Turbo R-Line more sporting credentials.
Overall, the 2.0L turbo engine gets many upgrades for 2026, including increased turbo boost, better cooling, and stronger pistons and connecting rods to ensure the engine can handle the increased power output.

The engine is mated to Volkswagen’s eight-speed automatic transmission and will have available paddle shifters along with standard all-wheel drive.
In addition to the power upgrades, all new-generation Tiguans are 77 kg (170 lb) lighter than the older model, which helps both performance and fuel economy.
To add to the performance look, the R-Line receives special front and rear bumpers, side skirts, 20-inch wheels, and a selection of three new vibrant colours.
The R-Line’s interior gets the best trim options available, such as Varenna leather seats and real walnut wood trim. The newest Tiguan generation also moves its gear shifter from the centre console to the steering column.
The Turbo model features Volkswagen’s latest infotainment and driver assistance/safety features that include a larger 15-inch infotainment screen, 30 colours of customizable ambient lighting, and Level 2 semi-automated driving.
Canadian availability and pricing for the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan Turbo will be announced closer to its launch this fall.
