Significant changes are coming to the Honda CR-V lineup for 2026, including better standard equipment and a brand-new TrailSport Hybrid trim, which ruggedizes the crossover with off-road styling touches.
Among the additions included in the TrailSport Hybrid package are all-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch Shark Grey wheels (borrowed from the Passport TrailSport), a more rugged front fascia, and silver skid garnishes on its chin. A black spoiler, door handles, and window surrounds complement the orange TrailSport badges on the grille and tailgate, and buyers are offered a special new paint colour: Ash Green Metallic.

Inside, the trim level adds embroidered front seats, all-season rubber floor mats, and amber ambient lighting in the footwells, cupholders, door pockets, and more. Like other CR-V hybrid models, the TrailSport Hybrid will be powered by an electrified 2.0L, four-cylinder engine that makes 204 net hp and 247 lb-ft of torque.
Although that power is routed to all four wheels, Honda admits that the off-road appearance package is rather softcore. While the all-terrain tires will undoubtedly increase its capabilities, TrailSport Hybrid trim maintains the CR-V’s on-road dynamics. However, all CR-Vs equipped with all-wheel-drive will benefit from enhanced traction management in 2026. The system works at speeds of 14 km/h or less and applies a little bit of braking force to a wheel that is slipping in order to focus more torque on wheels with grip, and improve traction.

One of four hybrid models, the TrailSport hybrid is joined by the EX-L Hybrid, the range-topping Touring Hybrid, and the new-to-Canada Sport Hybrid trims. Those who aren’t in the market for a hybrid can opt for the LX and Sport trims, which have a 1.5L turbocharged engine under the hood that makes 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque.
These entry-level models now benefit from a larger, nine-inch infotainment screen, while the Hybrid models get a 10.2-inch digital instrument screen, which is 46 per cent larger than the one in model year 2025 vehicles. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will now be standard throughout the lineup, as will a wireless phone charger.
The 2026 Honda CR-V is set to reach Canadian dealers this spring, and every example sold in Canada will be built at Honda’s plant in Alliston, Ont.
