Summary
More than 850 new EV chargers are set to be added across Canada.

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) announced $25 million in funding for 33 new projects aimed at helping in Canada’s shift towards zero emission vehicles (ZEVs).

Most of the federal funding is for electric vehicles (EV) charging infrastructure projects, including $3 million towards the installation of 320 Level 2 public chargers for light duty vehicles across Quebec. Chargers will be added to public parking locations such as streets, apartment buildings, and public workplaces. These will boost Quebec’s public Level 2 charger count to more than 1,000 locations.

The Jean Lesage International Airport in Quebec City alone will also see the installation of 20 new Level 2 charge ports. RL Energies gas stations throughout the province will also get 28 Level 2 fast chargers, and 34 DC fast-chargers at various locations. Additionally, Ikea’s distribution centre in Beauharnois, Que., will get three chargers for heavy-duty trucks.

Across the country, Indigo Park locations in Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia will get 140 new Level 2 charging points. Meanwhile, Canadian Apartment Properties will see the installation of 24 level 2 chargers across the same three provinces.
