2026 is set to be the year of the Wrangler as the Jeep brand celebrates its 85th anniversary. Once a month for the next year, the automaker will release a special edition version of its legendary off-roader and the first one, the Wrangler Moab 392, was revealed today.
“The Jeep Wrangler Moab 392 edition [is] a purpose-built powerhouse that delivers exceptional value and performance,” said Jeep CEO Bob Boderdorf. “Engineered with a no-frills, back-to-basics philosophy, it proudly reflects the core legacy of the Jeep brand.”
As the name suggests, the 6.4L (392 cubic inch) Hemi V8 will be the beating heart of the Wrangler Moab 392 package. Providing drivers with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, the engine will have more than enough power for even the toughest trails.
Helping it along farther will by 17-inch beadlock capable wheels wrapped in 35-inch all-terrain tires, connected to an axle with a 4.56 ratio and a 2.72:1 Selec-Trac full-time T-case. Less helpful, but no less fun, is the two-mode dual exhaust that lets the V8 engine sing (or not, depending on your situation).
The special edition model also gets a cold-air intake hood with a water separator, rock protection on the sill rails, mold-in-colour fender flares, black tow hoods, and a body colour hardtop. Inside, it gets heated black Nappa leather-trimmed seats, a premium audio system, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen.
Elsewhere in the lineup, the 2026 Wrangler gets new door hinges to make removal quicker and easier. It will also be offered with a range of new colours, including Reign, Goldilocks, Joose, Earl Grey, and Tuscadero, many of which will only be available later in the 2026 production run. The Willy two-door model will also now be offered with steel bumpers and a Warn hitch attached to its front.
A familiar selection of engines will continue to be offered for the coming model year. So far, Jeep has announced the return of the 2.0L inline-four that makes 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, the 3.6L V6 that makes 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and, of course, the 6.4L V8. It has not, however, revealed details regarding the plug-in hybrid "4xe" powertrain, which was pulled from the Gladiator lineup shortly before it was set to become available.
When asked about the omission, a Jeep representative said that the brand had no materials to share about the Wrangler 4xe. When pressed to confirm that the electrified powertrain would return to the Wrangler lineup for 2026, the representative simply said, "We'll share info on the Wrangler 4xe when we can."
U.S. order books are already open for the Jeep Moab 392, and it has a starting price of US$79,995.
